Many of you have heard of or met Chief Druku of Tavarua island in Fiji. Chief Druku Lalabalavu - one of our favorite humans on the planet, one of Fiji's first surfers and an incredible human being has suffered a set back. The cancer that he had so vigorously battled two years ago, has returned, and unfortunately it is inoperable. He has recently returned from the states, where several procedures were performed, to alleviate his present symptoms and to enable him to manage his constant pain. He is now back home and recuperating with his family in Fiji.
Chief Druku has a very special place in our hearts and is one of the main reasons why Tavarua is such a special place. Many people world wide have been touched by the broad grin, the cheeky laughter and the generosity of spirit that Druku has. He is well known among many including the very best surfers in the world - and is their welcoming host when the WSL comes to Fiji for their competitions. He is the heart and soul of the island and patron of the Tavarua Island extended family.
Please help Chief Druku and donate to his medical fund as Druku does not have any medical insurance and his procedures, treatments and hospital stay in the US have been extensive and costly. He will also need help with his ongoing care, nursing and medications that we hope will enable Druku to have a positive quality of life going forward together with his family.
