Got this board as standard PU with strong glass job (~34L 5' 10"). Have ridden it about half a dozen times now in complete windslop junk to decent 5' beachbreak. Absolutely loving the Hatchet! It is very versatile, paddles great, super maneuverable, and very fast. Have had a couple of sessions where others in the water have commented on how fast it is and some of the rides I got. A great addition to the quiver!
I have been a long time channel islands flyer model guy it worked well in most conditions. But I found that on some of the days where the waves were still great shape but a little weak I didnt have much fun surfing it. When I ordered this board my hope was that it would give me all the paddle power I needed but also generated tons of speed and carried it through flat sections. Well from session 1 I fell in love with the board. The step deck works to hide the volume when the board is on rail and the flat deck feels so good under foot. This board was made with EPoly and the flex and whiteness of the board is amazing. Surfing anything from thigh high to head high is where this board shines. In average beach break its loose but will still throw down a roundhouse with plenty of bite. Ive ridden the board 10 times and each time it gets better.
